  • Need Help Replacing a Sync Timeline with Merged Clips in Premiere Pro

    Hi everyone,

I’m currently working on a documentary in Premiere Pro (version 24.6.1), and I have a timeline where the original video and audio are synced. I’ve created merged clips that I’d like to use to replace the current timeline, but I want to keep the unsynced audio files as well.

I know about the option to hold the ‘Opt’ key while replacing, but that only replaces the video. Since I need to send the timeline for subtitling, it’s crucial to retain both the synced audio and the unsynced audio files.

Can anyone provide guidance on how to effectively replace the synced timeline with the merged clips while keeping all the audio intact?

    Thank you!

    Hey Fareeda,

Copy the audioclips to a track below your merged clips, might be the way forward.
You can always mute the tracks, if you only want them for “nice to have” or hand-over later to audio facility.
But you still have to be careful with staying in sync.

    Hey Mads,

Thanks for the suggestion! Just to clarify, I’m not worried about keeping the original audio below the merged clips—I’m okay with it being replaced. I’ll make sure to keep the audio portions where there’s no video on the timeline as well. That way, I can reference everything while staying in sync.

I was wondering if there’s a quicker way to replace the sync clips with the merged clips. Any tips would be appreciated!

    Appreciate your help!

    Best,
    Fareeda
