I need to recreate this text. The word “pray” is the example that I’m talking about. It looks like it was made in After Effects with a Wiggler selector. However, when the text moves it sometimes blurs, sometimes flashes into what looks like a scribbled version when it first appears. I’m guessing that was accomplished with some expressions. Any thoughts on pre-sets or which filters to use??

    Thanks,

yeah the movement was almost definately a wiggle expression. i think there was probably a posterize time effect or posterize expression to give it that low frame rate jerky movement. a similar wiggle expression could have been applied the glow effect (controls like amount, threshold, intensity etc.), maybe also to a blur.

I would try using multiple instances of the text with slightly different text animators and blend modes applied. You should be able to accomplish most of this look without using any effects.

Well the wiggle and the posterize time have me in the ball park. However, I don’t seem to know how they got it to blur when ever the text moves. Any ideas????

Try motion blur or CC Force Motionblur…
