Need Help Encoding HD File (QT and WMV HD) from FCP
I am recording in HDV on a Sony V1U and editing natively with FCP. I have a 20 minute video I would like to convert to a high qaulity HD file (for hosting on my website) with as minimal file size as possible…and I am a little new to this.
Specific questions:
As I am recording in 1080i, do I need to deinterlace before encoding with H.264 (or WMV HD) to 1080p?
I am currently using QuickTime pro (H.264) and Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro HD (Windows Media Pro 9 Advanced). Any suggestions for better encoding software? WME? Canopus?
Is it better to export from FCP to an intermediate such as Apple Int Codec before encoding with H.264/ WMV HD?
Everyone seems to say that 1080p requires a bit rate of ~8000kbs and almost all the 1080p HD video clips I have seen use a similar bitrate. I cannot get reasonable looking video unless I use an exorbitantly high bitrate (i.e., 10-15,000). Am I missing a setting?
In some of my test clips, I get great results most of the time, then there are areas which are mottled and obscured (mostly blacks or darker colors). Why is this? Any suggestions for correcting this?
Can someone layout a suggested workflow for me starting from Final Cut Pro (latest) in order to get video with quality and size similar to the professional Apple and WMV HD examples?
I am living and dying by your responses, so please help me!!
