I just picked up a Panasonic series 12 plasma and would like to connect it to my Kona 3 card for client viewing. I’m using the breakout box and have my broadcast monitor connected via HD-SDI and need some info on the best route to take installing the plasma as a secondary monitor.

I temporarily installed it using the component video cables, but I’m limited to a 720 signal. If I want a 1080p 23.98 signal, it appears that I have two options. An HD-SDI card into the plasma, or an AJA converter via HDMI.

There are two options to install a HD-SDI card in one of the TH-58PF12 slots. The TY-FB11DHD dual link board and the TY-FB9HD. I’m trying to determine if I need the dual link board or if I could get by with the cheaper board. If I want 1080p 23.98, is the dual link the only option?

Does anyone have any experience with the AJA Hi5 3G converter or know for sure if the plasma HDMI is 10 bit or 8 bit?

Thanks in advance for the help!

    David

You can do 1080 psf through the component.
