    Hey,

The company I work for is considering moving to HD content. We’re currently using FCP 7 for SD and when I was asked for my opinion, I said, due to FCP X debacle, I wouldn’t invest any further in FCP.

I would greatly appreciate hearing some advice on what hardware & software would be recommended to support 7 editing bays using Avid systems. Almost certainly, we’ll want a Unity. One Online bay. One audio sweetening.

Thanks in advance for any replies…

I would suggest Matrox MXO2 Minis or AJA I/O Express with Media Composer in the offline suites. An Avid Nitris with Symphony in the online suite, and if its just basic audio sweetening maybe a Pro Tools 9 system with just a basic mixer/i/o (like the M-Audio ProjectMix) and a pair of genelecs.

In the offline and audio suites you could even consider iMacs now that the Matrox can connect via thunderbolt.

We are also starting to look at Strawberry as an alternative to Unity.
Will quite possibly work with your existing shared storage system.
