  • NEED ASSISTANCE!!!!!!!!!!! FCP 6 to AE 4

Posted by Hawk Vaccaro on November 3, 2011 at 5:57 pm

    Howdy all,

Needing help on getting my FCP 6 sequence into AE 4 and then back to FCP 6.

I’ve tried a Red Giant script but it seems to not be working for me or only gives me a few clips

Does anyone have a great link to go to and free that can solve my problem? I’ve seen other forms for FCP 7 and gave it a shot, but it’s not the software I’m working with.

    Thanks in advanced!

    Hi Hawk,

My first thought is to try to import your fcp project into premiere, then save as a premiere file, and import into ae.

This is why automatic duck exists, but it is definitely not free.

Could you just export lossless from fcp? I think that you are going to have to spend money if you want to maintain your edits in AE, and even then I can’t think of a good way to get it back into fcp intact.

If all else fails, then exporting to pro res will get you there.

Hey thanks for the response and just tried Automatic Duck and it made it work! Thanks!

Are you sure this isn’t free? just gave me the download without asking for payment.

It became free last week because the developers joined the Adobe team and they will no longer be supporting or developing automatic duck.

Another free to use script is https://www.popcornisland.com/2009/03/final-cut-2-after-effects/

Basically it allows you to import .xml files of your fcp timelines, although it can be a bit wonky when you’re using weird slides, swipes or other fcp transitions. Other than that, I’ve been using this without problems for quite a while (because a. duck was a bit too pricey)

Automatic Duck Products are for free now because developing has stopped. No Update- and no support-plans for the future

Awesome and thank you to all!

Think I’ve got it working for what I’m needing to do.

Have a good one and thanks again!
