    Hi!
Trying to a edit using this footage given to me. Running my standard 1080i HDV session. (other footage is HDV)

The file plays fine in quicktime player

This file stutters and the audio is out of sync. On my i5 I get about 10 FPS. Noticing it’s 30 fps in my 29.97 session, I set playback speed at .999. Still slow and stuttering.
So I try to render that clip to a new file and import that. I choose a Mainconcept 720p. That worked but looked bad like this.

So I figure use Quicktime pro to convert as this file plays fine in quicktime. I exported to mp4, it took forever, and that stuttered in quicktime, and I only get audio in Vegas.
Any suggestions as to how to get this file to play nice in vegas without loosing too much quality?
I chose 720p because in vegas I think under properties it said 600 x ?? and it said progressive, so I thought that was the closest. The file was given to me so I have no idea where it comes from, or how it was made.
    Thank you

I can’t help, but these are the questions I have, which I think may help.

The example you posted is a very small file size (37KB) and quite blurred, so it’s hard to tell exactly what the difference is, for me.

Do you mean the video stutters in Vegas Preview? What do the project properties say about frame size? The actual source file is quite small.

Or do you mean it stutters after render?

The original as shown by QT’s Movie Inspector in your post is 800*450. But that should not matter.

The original H.264 seems to play fine in QT player, but in Vegas 12 Pro stutters and drops down to a Silly 10fps or so. Plus the audio is a good 15 frames out of sync. If you click on the image that compares the Main Concept render you might be able to see a large loss in detail and it looks blown out.
I own a i7 desktop and a and gen i5 laptop. The i5 laptop w 16 gig ram usually handles HD footage fine with simple edits.
    Thanks
