  • NEED ADVICE with getting my idea to work on a video!!!! any knowledge is fine!

hey guys so I use vegas pro and am starting to use after effects and stuff but I had this idea for just a short scene like a 5 or 10 second shot. I have a motorcycle channel on youtube and i have been making videos for about a year and I usually just ride around and record everything on a gopro and then edit it with music and stuff. So for a future video I wanted to make I had a idea about what to do but i have absolutly no idea how to do it.

What I wanted to do was have me riding my motorcycle at night, have a person in a car riding along with me filming me from the side. I wanted to have columns or something that was “closer” to the camera. here I’ll post this video from 300.

GO TO 0:39 in the video….this is exactly what i was thinking.

you see how they have the columns or pillars closer to the camera while the persian is riding the horse behind it? That’s exactly what I was thinking.

Also is it possible to make me and the building behind me very dark so that you only see the shapes of the objects? (this is just an addition but not too important. I mainly wanted to know how to do the previous idea)

Please if you know a way to do this let me know that would be great.

You have to keep in mind that the movie 300 was color graded professionally ($$$)
I would search for “300 movie look” on the internet. Here is an example with Sony Vegas 9:

You need to learn to use the primary and secondary color corrector in Vegas.
There are also a lot of examples using After Effects.

We’ll I’m not look for color grading it though…I was talking about having a certain image or object closer to the camera while having a moving vehicle behind it..like that part I showed on the clip. I wasn’t talking about the whole video just the part at 0:38

You can add this quite easily in Vegas Pro. Create an image of the columns with a transparent background. Make sure that it is wider than a singe frame since you will be moving it horizontally. Place it on a track above the video of you riding. Open Pan/Crop on the column event and keyframe the horizontal motion of the columns to coincide with the video motion. You might want to add some motion blur to make it look more realistic.
