    Hi fellow cows,

I am revamping our cable news set and needed some ideas as to what to put behind the anchors.

I was going to go with pictures but thought it would look silly if the anchor was framed with a tree limb sticking out of their head.

The local broadcast stations mix it up a bit, one has a mural that has their logo become part of the design and flows pretty good, the other station spent some money and went with the 20 or so black and white monitors behind them that have a different channel and bars on them that are blurred using a frosted type window.

The philly station KYW has a cool mural of their cityscape.

these are all good ideas but does anyone have any others?

I don’t know if i want to incorporate our logo into it or not, we might have it on the front of the news desk. But when I think about it, the only time we use the wide shot where it will be seen is the last shot of the show that shows the anchor, sports guy and stock reporter guy.

The logo in front of the desk was going to be made of a metallic substance that would have our logo etched in it. It would not be in color, so maybe we could have the logo on the front of the desk and also incorporated into the mural (in color)

Does that sound like a plan? I was just brainstorming as i typed 🙂

    TIA

    Sam

    Sam –
If you have depth, you can do a lot with lights and breaking
up the backround with flats on different planes. Translucent
flats can look very cool. I’m partial to metal grids used on sports
    shows.

The all time best news set imho is MSNBC Countdown.
Most others range from cheesie to clinical.

I would definitely shoot for a layered look with some transparent materials. Maybe just hits of your logo and branding statement would work for you…I dont think a mural is the answer…
