Aloha all.. I’ve just started playing with After Effects and am trying to make a intro logo for my trailers.. Now I have tried so many tutorials for shatter but never get it how I want it.. Usually it just shatters as soon as it plays and not where I try and put it from..

What I am wondering is, if anyone is willing to give me a hand? I want to have Madcrow Productions, with a crow and shine etc through which I have covered, it’s just the shatter.. What I would like is once the crow flies off screen for the text to explode and when it does have the word ” Presents ” appear from behind the explosion, and then fade out.. If anyone can help me out I would be very thankful and will credit them on my sites.. Would like the finished aep so I can learn how to do it for next time.. And isn’t it the time for giving? LOL.. Thanx guys..

The easiest way for you to do this would be to duplicate the layer you want shattered and have the upper layer with the shatter effect moved in the timeline to start after the crow flies off. The lower duplicate would have no shatter effect.

    Hi,

I think what you need to do is to animate the Depth control under Force 1 of the shatter effect. Move it in a positive direction and the force will not intersect the shatter plane. Then animate it in a negative direction and it will push through the plane, shattering it.

    I hope this helps,

    Lars
