Can anyone suggest a good articulating arm field monitor mount for my Panasonic HD 9′ LCD monitor. There must be many options, so I would be interested in hearing your opinions.

    Thanks

The heavy-duty NOGA articulating arm is the best I’ve seen, but it can barely hold the Panasonic 8.4″ field monitor with an Anton/Bauer dionic battery on the back.

    Hi,

I’ve used the Noga arm, but ever since we found the Manfrotto adapter for our handle, we haven’t used the Noga. (I keep it with our kit, though.) The Manfrotto mount keeps the weight of the monitor and its battery over the handle. The problem with the Noga arm is that it doesn’t hold reliably. You need to keep an eye on it and keep tightening it, even if you move the camera a small distance. The drawback with the Manfrotto may be that it puts the monitor rather close to the operator, but we worry less about the support giving way and the monitor falling over. Fletcher Chicago carries this item.

    Alan,

I’ve had good luck with a Linhoff still-photo tripod head. It centers the monitor up over the handle and allows sufficient pan and tilt to place it just where you want. They’re available from the B&H catalog, but be sure and get the larger of the two models.
