  • Need a faster way to assign roles in multi-channel audio clip.

Folks, FCP X really gets bogged down working with audio that’s a multichannel clip – especially when having waveforms on.

I need to assign roles to each channel so it happens globally – sort of like how one would make color changes on a clip inside a muilticam clip so that it happens everywhere.

Right now the only way I can assign these roles is to expand the clip in the storyline to reveal the channels, drag horizontally along all of the channels (per my edits) that are the same and assign them a custom role. Repeat for each other channel in the audio clip.

This slows down my machine horribly and my workflow. There has to be a better way.

Jeremy you have saved me an enormous amount of time on a project I am working on. If we ever cross paths, coffee (or whatever drink) is on me….after I say, “Jeremy who?”. So you’ll have to remind me.

I have the effect on people. 🙂

Don’t thank me, thank Charlie Austin who’s helping to deliver it.
