I have found multiple tuts on how to make a flag waving and such, very cool random animations, but I need a non-random animation where the flag/cloth object animates in one direction, away from one edge, in a completely uniform, sine wave-like manner. Attached is a video of what I need basically, but without the individual strands, and looking like the attached photo.

if you want it like the still, where the amplitude of the wave is uniform along the entire range then that will require more thought but if you want it like the video, where amplitude gets bigger from the source then that’s possible with the Flag deformer. You just have to set Turbulence to 0. The deformer is old and only works in Z and Y but put it all in a Null and rotate that and will move as I think you want

That’s it Brian, thank you! I created a triangle and applied the deformer, then unticked the “flag” so it would be uniform in size but I need to mask off with a feather, the starting point, so it doesn’t look so strange leaving the speaker.

Thanks so much for your help!
