Need 4K storage suggestions Windows users
I am about to start my first 4K project and one of my hard drive crash on raid 0 system. I was able to get older projects off of it “lucky” Media was backup anyway. So I began Transcode my 4K footage from my Drobo to my 500GB SSD media drive DNXHR SQ and the driver wasn’t big enough. I have order a 1TB SSD but if change my RockStor to a Raid 5 will it be fast enough for 4K? I would like to here from others here or suggestions what you use as a media drive for 4K DNXHR.

You need to do the maths.
What’s the sustained data rate of your Raid 5 proposed setup (best to configure it and test. Or check manufacturers stated spec)
What’s the data rate of you media.
How many real time streams will you need (at least 2 but possibly more if you are doing effects)
Add 20% or so overhead.I’d not use Raid 5 Raid 1 or 10
