NDF DF warning capturing DVCAM NTSC
Hello all,
I am having a problem with the following warning:
“you are about to capture NDF media from a device currently detecting or configured for DF media.”
(running fcp 6.0.6 on Macbookpro with OS X 10.5.8)
I am working from flx files from cinema tools (35mm, NDF xfer to DVCAM) which I have imported to be digitized. I am using a sony pd 150 to capture the clips. For some reason FCP is reading that the PD-150 sending a DF signal. I have reset the camera tc. The only way i don’t get the warning is if I go in to cinema tools and resave each clip as DF. Then import–but that is only a temp fix, production is to be finished on film, and I am worried about sync issues.I have double checked with the lab.
What is going on?

Try playing the tape a bit before attempting to batch capture. The camera probably is outputting a drop frame signal by default when nothing is detected. When you actually play the tape it gets a taste of that non-drop TC, it will then know what to do. There may be a setting somewhere to make it output NDF by default, also.

Hi John,
Sad to say this did not work either. still got the warning…
BTW, the camera was set to NDF in VCR mode.Any other suggestions?
