  • naming of render files – reference movie?

I have a workflow where I edit remotley on my macbook pro with a copy of the media on a firewire drive, that was originally digitized at the office and still resides on an xraid. We pass project files back and forth and are able to look at cuts this way.

My question is – how are render files named? Is there any possibilty to get the render files on both systems in the same path with the same names – so I could just send a reference movie back and forth? There are some peope in our office who are networked via fiber to the xraid, but don’t operate final cut. For these people I need to either send a quicktime with self contained media (which takes a long time to push) or get someone on the other end to makethe reference movie – which isn’t very difficult – but it would be nice to be self contained. I know it is a bit of a stretch – but any ideas?

    > My question is – how are render files named?< They are completely arbitrary AFAICT. It sounds like yo are pushing approval copies of work to folks on your network. Self-contained is the only way you can do it, I'm fairly certain. Reference files are FCP-specific. bogiesan
