Naming compound clips?
I was wondering if anybody has found a way to name a compound clip in the timeline to help identify it.
I have been using compound clips to keep audio tracks in synch and grouped by type, and it would be nice to be able to label the types. For instance, I am currently working on a project with a stereo mix from a house sound board, 2 stage mics, and 2 ambient mics, all recorded in synch on an HD24 hard drive recorder. In the old days I would simply use a tone channel that got sent to my primary video recorder as well to synch up the in points on all my tracks and drop them into the timeline, then rename the source files from FCP. Now, I’m connecting all my tracks at the same playhead marker, making a compound clip of all of them, going into the compound clip and making another layer of compound clips for my stereo board mix, ambience and stage mics. It works pretty well, but gets a little hard to remember which compound clip is what.
Anyway, if anybody has any ideas, I’m all ears 🙂
*edit* Ok, I think I may have a solution if anybody’s interested. I can name them if I make empty ones in the event browser first. This seems a little more time-consuming than simply making them in the timeline. I’m still looking for a way to name the clips after creating them from the timeline…maybe this is a feature that will be added later? For that matter, the ability to have compound clips made in the timeline show up in the event browser would be nice too.
