NAB 2005 Avid News as of Saturday Night, 04/16/06
Word from my buddy at NAB is not good so far. No Mojo 2. Xpress Pro HDV version working great in demos and looking promising, but no word (or ideas even) as to when it will be released. Sometime in 2005 is the Avid Booth folk’s guess. Adrenaline HDV looks pretty decent as well.
Xpress Studio HD is real and will be announced tomorrow (Sunday) night. No word on if the rumored Symphony Nitris product is real or not, nor the rumored Avid/Sorenson encoding product that was “supposed” to be launched at Sundance. No word on DS Nitris 8.
So far, it’s looking like a real “lame duck” year for Avid, but the big announcements will be tomorrow night and there’s still lots of buzz going on, including whisperings of products that no one has even heard of. We’ll find out tomorrow night. Same goes for Apple and Final Cut Pro 5.
