My sony vegas 11 saves the MP4 video as name.mp4.tmp
so when ever i render my video it saves a name.mp4.tmp file. but then i rename the file to name.mp4 and it turns into the video file. but then there is another problem, if i import that renamed video into vegas it gets stuck (not responding) and then crashes. what should i do?
and also after rendering, the “open” option is grayed out during this problem & the finished video has audio out of sync. if the problem doesn’t happen (only 20% chance) audio & video is not out of sync

It sounds like for whatever reason your renders are not completing. You should not be seeing tmp files. You should just have the name.mp4 at the completion of the render. I don’t know what’s causing this but something isn’t right.

Your post made it sound like you thought this was normal behavior because you were renaming the files and trying to use them in Vegas. I was just pointing out that it wasn’t. If that was obvious to you then ignore my post. We have people of all skill levels posting so I don’t know how much you already know.

The .tmp file is an intermediate. The render is not complete. I believe it has finished the timeline but needs to do some post-process. For longer mp4s, it can take a while sitting at 100%, with [open] greyed out and the .tmp file sitting there. Wait a while longer. It’s likely that your renaming the file would mess something up.
