I’m happy with the video quality but the sound is a bit nasty, not sure what the bit rate should of been for the audio. The source audio was mp3 which does not help. For those who want to view I am open to constructive criticism.

Actualy, I think it’s good. I would have to hear the wave to compaire but for internet streaming, What do you want. Why didn’t you use the wave file instead of the mp3? I gather you can hear a difference. Also Great band and song!!

    Hi Danny
Yeah that’s all they gave me. It was shot over 2 days in a very small room. I did have 140gig of footage to fish through. It was a big learning curve at every level. But now I just have to do a very high quality render and then my job is done on this one. And now I’m looking for another project. I volunteered for the broken season video to support an up and coming New Zealand band. A the moment I am concentrating on growing my portfolio.

Just checked out the video at 720p and there are compression artifacts where you may be able to get better. What format and rez did you upload to Youtube. John Rofano can give you the best settings to render to for youtube. He’s one of if not the best Vegas leader here at the cow. Hope your following this threaad and help out.

Yes John has helped me many times already. But my main concern is not for youtube but to impress the people at the film festivals. I have to maintain the 25p and full hi def as lossless as possible. even if the file ends up being over 5gigs. I might try a .mov render but even then I am not sure what settings I need.

To answer your question 1920 x 1080 mpeg 4 I think I set it to 10000000 bps. Ended up being a 295mb file.

What kind of format are they requesting for the film Fest? What will they be playing the file with? Have you tried .WMVHD? Any fast computer can play them back very smoothly and I’m sure I could get better quality video, without the blocking artifacts in .WMVHD unless your source video has it. I just rendered a 1920 x 1080 60p video captured from a Panasonic HDV-TM700 in WMVHD and it looks better than anything I’ve seen yet played from a computer, now a DVS server would look better. I just need 62K$ for a pronto 2k modified to play 1080p60. LOL I would just render a Uncompressed avi and let them encode for their server.

Its a funny one when you don’t know who the end user is. I guess I can always render later to what ever they ask for (providing vegas can do it).

“Its a funny one when you don’t know who the end user is.”

In this case, the end user is the film festival.
Most film fests post specific requirements on their main page as to formats they will accept.
As Danny said, find out what that is and render to that format.
This is no different than working for a client who wants a project on both DVD and the web.
Give them what they want and everyone is happy 🙂
