    Hello,
I am having major issues with one of my CS5 Premiere Pro projects that I have spent hours on. It started taking forever to open up, and if it does finally open I can’t make any changes to the timeline without Premiere freezing (I get the “Not Responding” error). I have been having problems with my raid set up, where my project is stored, so I thought that could be causing the issue; however I moved the entire project off the raid (D:) onto my C: Drive and it reacts the same way.
I have another project that opens up quickly and works just fine (it is on the D: drive). I have no idea what to do or what could be causing the problem, and I’m so close to being done with the project!!
If anyone could make any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

    My computer:
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    ASUS P7P55 WS SuperComputer motherboard
    8GBs DDR3 Crucial RAM
    Core i7 860 2.80GHz CPU
    3 1TB Western Digital Black HDD’s as a RAID 5 (the D: drive)
640GB Western Digital Black HDD where Windows is installed (the C: drive)

    Thanks in advance.

I would try creating a new project (in a different folder) and importing the current one into it.

Thank you for the quick response.
I actually just tried that and am still having the same issue. I tried uninstalling Premiere and reinstalling it to no avail. I also just tried renaming folders – it did nothing. I’ve tried looking for a bad video clip if perhaps a single clip is causing it to fail, but I can’t find anything.
The last change I made to the project (before it started freezing) was to add a few rolling credits, which I couldn’t imagine would be the cause of my trouble.
I’m still at square one. It must have something to do with a corrupt file or the way Premiere is reading my files since I can open different projects with different video clips, but I’m not sure what to try next.
To top it all off, the very first time I opened Premiere after reinstalling it, I got a memory_management 0x0000001A blue screen error. After the computer rebooted, I haven’t received that error again…

Have you installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update? That update fixes a lot of problems, including one in which project files were getting bloated, causing them to fail to open in some cases.

I will try that next. I am downloading the update right now. Thanks.

So, I downloaded that update, but it is a patch installer. I’m not sure how to update Premiere with it. If I double-click the “AdobePatchInstaller” I get an Adobe Updates window that says “Update is not applicable”. What am I doing wrong?

Why don’t you jsut use the Help > Updates command to automatically apply the update? The downloadable update package is only for cases in which you can’t use the automatic updater (such as when your computer isn’t connected to the Internet and you need to get the update from an internal server).

I tried that, found some updates (not all that were in that package). The project still had trouble, and Premiere crashed referencing some temp files. So, I decided to use Ccleaner and clean my temp files and repair several registry errors. I was then able to open Premiere and edit my project without any problems so far! I’m hoping it continues to work smoothly, but I’m fairly certain the problem was due to some temp files.
