My Live Type Animations are not relinking…
I just upgraded to FCP 5 Studio and Tiger and now FCP tells me my old Live Type animation files are missing. Here is the problem…there not! I can open each animation from the browser into Livetype and it is there, I tried to save, save as… but no luck opening these new ones in FCP.
I then created a new project, copy & pasted the tracks from the old file into the new one, saved, imported and all is fine. I have about 150 animations and really don’t want to recreate all of them, Is there something I can do so that FCP5 will see my old existing Livetype animations? and relink them? Thanks, John -

You might try trashing your FCP Preferences.

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).

This is one FCP tip that has helped in hundreds of “odd” problems.

I had a similar problem whrn I upgraded to FCP 5. Rather than trashing the preferences for FCP, try trashing the preferences for Live Type. After I did this, older projects relinked worked OK in FCP 5.
