My 2.53GHz/4GB ram Mac Book Pro won’t install FCP Studio 5
Error reads: Your computer does not have the hardware required.
Maybe someone can help me with this. The min hardware requirement for FCP Studio5 reads as follows:
A Mac with a PowerPC G4 (867 megahertz [MHz] or faster) or PowerPC G5 processor
• HD features require 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster single processor or dual processors
• 512 megabytes (MB) of random-access memory (RAM)
• HD features require 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM or more (2 GB recommended)
• At least 1024 x 768 resolution
• AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) Quartz Extreme graphics cardMy MacBook has the following:
– 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
– 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM
– 10.6.6 OS x
– 500GB/ 247GB Free
– 1280 by 800 (native)
– NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory3This should work so why isn’t it??

The software is too old for your computer.
It’s telling you that it requires a PowerPC processor (and an AGP video card slot) which no Macs currently use. Apple switched to Intel processors about 5-6 years ago.

Thanks John. I understand more about PC’s than I do MACs so I never considered this as Windows XP will install old software. If I purchased the FCP-7 upgrade would I be able to install it to this machine even though it doesn’t have a previous version installed? I do have the serials.

Yes. My FCS3 is an update and doesn’t need FCS2 to be installed first.
