I’ll be doing a number of 480i SD to HD up conversions this weekend with my MXO2 and I’m having some issues with the way the MXO2 upconverts.

When I upscale to “Pro Res 720p29.97” I get 720P. No problem there.

But when I choose 1080p29.97 the resulting upconverted footage is definitely interlaced even though I selected 1080P.

When I tried “1080P29.97 DVCPRO HD as another upconvert option, the footage still looked interlaced even though after dropping my footage into an empty timeline, the timeline’s Compressor setting was “DVCPRO HD 1080p30”.

I know 29.97 is by definition interlaced. But why is it that the option reads “1080P29.97″. And the resulting timeline becomes “1080P30” while the footage looks interlaced.

Didn’t find any explanation regarding up convert choices in the MXO2 manual. So I’m completely lost.

What are you using to determine whether the footage is interlaced?

Not the canvas or viewer on your computer screen hopefully.

If you are, read the FAQ section for this forum to see why that is not a useful idea.

Are you looking at an external monitor hooked up to the MXO2’s monitor output?
