    Hello,

Maybe someone could help me again with one interesting and important question?

I wanted to know does Magix Vegas Pro 16 opens mxf files (I have a video in “MXF OP-Atom” format) and I don`t want to encode it to some other format to open it in Vegas (don’t want to loose the quality). Maybe there are some ways how it is possible to open it there?

    Thank you in advance,
    Ilona. ????

Have you already actually tried importing it into Vegas 16 or the trial.
    And what issue appeared?

Vegas doesn`t allow me to open them. Maybe there are something in preferences or Vegas actually don`t work with mxf in general?

[Ilona Konovalcika] “Vegas actually don`t work with mxf in general?”

I don’t know about “in general”? But I do know VP16 Build 261 opens my MXF Files just fine – no issues. It will also Render to MXF if I so wish.

From your comments you need to know that MXF is only a wrapper, this from WiKi:

“MXF is a “container” or “wrapper” format which supports a number of different streams of coded “essence”, encoded in any of a variety of video and audio compression formats, together with a metadata wrapper which describes the material contained within the MXF file.”

So, Ilona, you need to know just what it is that inside that MXF OP-Atom. Download MediaInfo and use it to interrogate the CODECs that is needed to read them. I wouldn’t install any CODECs just yet, see if the MXF can be converted to another MXF or MPEG that’ll work nicely with VP16.

This MXF OP-Atom MXF file is more complex than I know – sorry ????
