MXF from PC to Final Cut
So I’ve seen variations on this question asked, but never this one particularly. We did a shoot in June using the PMW-EX1, and I was the only crew member with a laptop that had the right expresscard slot for the SXS cards. Therefore, we dumped all the .mxf’s to my external HD.
However, the editor uses Final Cut, so I needed to get the mxf’s to a mac-formatted HD. I did this by using a mac as a bridge between my external and the mac one.
Today, the editor goes to make some preliminary cuts, and finds that he can’t import the mxf’s into FCP. The only files on the hard drive are .mxf’s that can be opened just fine with VLC, but won’t be read by Final Cut. What do I need?

The editor needs to open the log an transfer window to see the files and import them, command-shift-8.

or you can purchase one of the new crop of MXF native support components (wish that Apple would provide this support in Quicktime, but these components are a worthwhile investment unless or until that happens)
mxf4mac and calibratedQ offer varying levels of support depending on the raw mxf format
