Activity Forums Adobe Premiere Pro MXF files Offline in Timeline

Do they say offline in the source viewer when you match frame from the timeline?

Hash marks in the timeline might mean that the ftg is online, but the edit points in the clips are outside the media timecode bounds.

also…you look at the media from the project panel…in the source viewer…is it connected to the right clips on you hard drive?

you may have some MXF with identical file names that ppro has reconnected to.

Since the durations or timecode don’t match, your edits in the timeline are likely out of bounds of those source files…

confirm that your mxf in the project panel are connected to the correct source files….

if this is corrected….you timeline should then clear up.

After further review, the files in the timeline are correctly linked up. However the MXF clips eventually go black, or offline 1/4 of the way in . Seems like the MXF Source clips are only linking up to the front portion of the source file from the disk

    When you say “go black”…

playing from the source revealed in the project panel? or when playing them as edited in the timeline?

    Seems like could be….

Either the MXF files that are linked are somehow interpreted incorrectly (frame rate)
    or
Your connected to the wrong set of MXF files.

    To test…

in a fresh PPro Project if you import the same MXF material…(reveal the files in the OS from the Project panel)

    do they play properly?

if so…examine the ftg interpretation in the project panel….see if there are some differences there..

    not sure really…

just trying to help problem solve.

There was an issue in Premiere CC where C300 MXF footage was importing improperly. This was fixed the December 2012 update.

If you had a project with C300 MXF media created before the update and re-open it after installing the update, you will get results you are seeing. Only way I have seen to correct it is to re-import the media and re-edit.

You will also see the problems if you open a project created after the update in a Premiere install without the update. This can easily be fixed by updating the machine that is running the older version of CC.

    Hope this helps.

In CS6 I’ve had P2 MXF media go offline when bouncing between PPro and AE linked comps. Not sure why it happened, but hasn’t happened recently. I just closed PPro and opened it again and everything would link up.

    Hey John,
Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I am having the exact same issue where the MXF files lose connection the the string keeping only the first MXF file on line. Seems to be the same problem you are having.
They work perfectly for a long time and then something happens and they are gone. I have to literally go back and replace the files from the original file which will bring everything back together. Unlinking and relinking is of no help.

Wondering if you ever found a solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Adam
