MXF files from Sony FX9 and FCPX
Hello: After trying hard to import 4k files from my Sony Fx9 into FCPX, all manner of weirdness ensued. Then I finally came to the conclusion files must be converted (Sony Catalyst Browse). I used to do this with my old FCP7 program, but just assumed the X would work. Am I correct in assuming that this is the only option? (other than the other free conversion tools). I’m hoping quality stays pretty consistent? Thoughts? (I could only find relevant discussions from – like, 10 years ago. haha. Thank you kind folks!

Hi,
There shouldn’t be any problems regarding importing FX9 footage into FCP. It should be ok since 10.4.2. I don’t know, maybe you did, but running Disk Utility’s First Aid and checking for upgrades – just thinking out loud.

Not sure if they are the same format but had a FX6 rental of late and the media worked fine in 10.6.x.
