Muxing in MPEG STREAMCLIP
Hey Everyone,
Sorry if this is a redundant question:
I’m submitting a spot to an upcoming film festival and they want a muxed MPEG.
I’m using compressor to convert my source a 10 bit uncompressed QT into an Mpeg-2. I’m also converting an AIFF for the audio.
My problem lies in getting to merge (mux) the two in MPEG Streamclip. I can’t open them together for some reason in order to MUX the two. When I try it gives me an error message about not being able to open files of the same type.
In my compressor settings I’ve tried to create an m2t to no avail. (A multiplexed mpeg with audio). Actually, compressor has failed on me a few times while trying to convert to this file type.
So, I’m wondering if anyone, has any advice or tips about MPEG Streamclip or any other useful programs to help me create a muxed mpeg to submit to this festival.

Piece o’ cake. Use compressor to make the file, just like making something for a DVD Studio, be sure to select the option to include audio layer. Then use MPEG Streamclip to convert that file.

Hi john,
When you export in Compressor, go to the “extras’ tab and select “Multiplexed MPEG-1 layer 2 audio”.
Export. That’s all. You will get your MPEG-2 with the audio embed. No need MPGStreamclip.

you mentioned converting a separate .aiff for audio.
just combine it in fcp and export it through compressor with the multiplexed
audio option as the 2 posters suggest. -

I exported with compressor using a multiplexed Mpeg-2 setting and when i bring in either my m2t file or a renamed .mpeg into MPEG-Streamclip it gives me this error:
“One or more transport stream files have a bad size. Do you want to open then anyway? This usually happens when a file is incomplete”
I hit OPEN and just the picture plays…no sound. Basically where I was at yesterday.
When it compresses in Compressor it says the job was successful.
Any ideas on how to get around this?

what size is it? mpeg streams must comply to standard broadcast/dvd
resolutions. -

Fix the stream, by hitting CMD-F.
In MPEG Streamclip, be sure to choose convert with audio (seems obvious, said it anyway). -

Thanks for the tip. I watched a video on the BitVice Helper. It seems like it will do the trick.
The only problem is, everywhere that links to it on Google seems to not have the file. Do you know where I could find it? Or maybe you could upload the DMG to YouSendIt or something?
Or. Is there a comparable program out there that will let me do the same thing?
