mute audio on capture

Hi Bruno – welcome to the forum.

Are you capturing using a video card (Kona/Blackmagic etc) or through Firewire? If you’re using a card then under System Preferences>Sound you can set your output to Internal Speakers for your music to come out through the Mac speakers, or Line Out if you’re using headphones/ external speakers with a mini-jack connection.

Alternatively. In the log and capture window under the clip settings tab, uncheck the Preview Box and that should mute your incoming audio.

that way is easier, in fact, but under the ‘clip Settings’ tab I just have:

-video
-audio
-create new clip on Start/Stop

should I uncheck the audio here?

Seems that there is no way to mute the audio while capturing HDV footage at this stage…until FCP come with a plug in or something.

One option I found that works for me if when I filmed, I recorded on one channel only.

If the audio is recorded on your RIGHT channel then go in to the

system preferences > sound > output

and change the balance to the LEFT opposite of how you’ve recorded the audio on your footage.

That way you won’t hear the sound of your footage while you want to listen something else on your computer. But you will be able to listed in mono only. Its better than nothing ey?
