Wondering if somebody would be kind enough to point me in the right direction where the problem lies… I am working with this Christian artist to create a music video. We shot her over a green screen for compositing, but had her maintain

First guess – check your audio settings. Your CD, sampled at 44.1k, was brought into the Avid at 48k, which is the default audio setting. Check your ‘audio settings’ in the settings tab, and set your project to 44.1. You’ll have to transcode your audio back to 48k to get it back to DVD.

Second guess – It might have something to do with your frame rate as well – aren’t 30p and 30i different rates? It’s too early to remember that.

    Jon,

Thanks for your input. As it turns out the artist may have had different cuts–so I just took the track into AudioSuite and did a tiny time compression/expansion and after about 6 attempts I got it just about perfectly synced, all the way up to the end!! And there is no perceptible change in pitch whatsoever.

    Praise the Lord!

[Richard Dolesh] “did a tiny time compression/expansion”

That was going to be my suggestion. Ordinarily such players as boom boxes etc. are not running at a sync speed so the audio could be running faster or slower and you never know this til you try to put a clean track to it.
