anyone run into the phrase “incompatible composition mulitprocessing off” found in the info pallete when you render something? I’ve never seen it before and as a result after effects is utilizing about 35% of my system resources as opposed to close to 100% when it utilized multiprocessing which really dragging my render time out.
I’ve got a quad 2.66 MAC with 5gb of RAM a couple of hard drives and AE CS3.
I’ve got a couple precomps going on, as well in my project, nothing too convoluted though.

    yes…

the first time i saw it, it was during ram previews right after installing the 8.0.1 update. that update enabled opengl acceleration on macs. it turns out that opengl acceleration and multiprocessing are not compatible. i did a little testing and found that multiprocessing was faster for me than opengl, so i switched off opengl for previews all together.

but i do remember seeing that message since then once… at the time, my comp wasn’t very render intensive, so i didn’t spend much time looking into it, and i haven’t noticed it since. i’d be curious what they might say in adobe’s ae forum. (i did do a quick search but found nothing…)
