  • Multiple masks in a multi clip edit?

Hi! I have an edited film with a driving car, where I need to replace the license plate. If it was individual clips, it would be no problem. But it is edited, with dissolves at times etc. So basically the car comes in and out of shot, cut to another shot etc. Resolve sees this as just one clip, of course. So what is the best or easiest way to approach this? I didn’t find a way to track a mask for only a determined number of frames and stop, then create another mask for the next clip etc. Unfortunately I’m using the free version of Resolve 18. Thanks in advance for your help.

Adam, can you right-click on the MC clip in the Media Pool, choose “Open in Timeline” and do your masking on the individual original clips there?

All those changes will show in your MC clip in your timeline.

Hi Myron. Thanks for the reply. That wouldn’t work. It’s all a single edit. It is a finished film. So the clips are not separated. It wasn’t edited in Resolve and I don’t have the original edit project anymore. So I can’t export an EDL to bring it in Resolve. I can only bring the edited film into Resolve. Know what I mean?
