I would do it with a simple Pixel Bender plug-in. You’ll need to get your hands on the developer’s guide:

Focus on the section titled “Developing for After Effects”.

Basically, you write a plugin that does nothing except define the controls you need and pass the image through untouched with a function like this:

As a bonus, once you learn the Pixel Bender syntax, you’ll be able to write simple plugins that actually manipulate the image.
