    Hey there,

I’m currently messing around with cinema4d and multipass rendering.

Everything works quite fine, aside of the refraction.
Any idea how I can change the refraction in post so that, for example, a character could walk
behind a glass and it would look like something? It doesn’t need to be “physical correct”

I tried displacement maps but had no luck
I made a lil demo pic if someone wants to help

    any help?

I’m not entirely familiar with the relationship between C4D and AE. I’m trying to get into it more, but unfortunately deadlines take precedence over self-enlightenment.

I will say that, depending on your implementation for refraction, my understanding is that a displacement map should probably point to a render pass of the scene’s normals. You will probably also want a matte to determine what will be refracted, it looks like the fresnel pass (I think that’s what it is?) should work for that.

Wohoo! Thanks Darby! Haven’t thought about the normals at all!

Worked just liked it should do 🙂
