I have a project with 17 seperate multiclips. I first started making 1 multi-clip then editing it, then making the next and editing that and so on….. After making the 2nd multi-clip, when i try to edit it, the viewer locks up and wont let me change angles or between open and sync off. I get a message saying..
“Sequence error: Unable to add clip to sequence.
Possible media limits problem in clip or sequence.”
Now this problem is solved by restarting FCP, but it persists after i edit one multi-clip??????? Will trashing preferences help???? Maybe I have some setting wrong???? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Not sure I know what you are doing.
You don’t edit multiclips. You load a mulitclip into a sequence and edit the sequence.

If you are saying you edit a sequence that has one or more multiclips used in it,
then you nest that sequence into another one, then edit that one,
now you are talking trouble. I would not recommend doing that.
And why would you do that? Just edit the sequence itself and copy it
into whatever other sequence you want to create.

Nesting more than once is not advisable.
Nesting is fine for effects or added a filter to an entire sequence at once,
but for general editing, it’s not a good idea.

Am I not getting what you are doing?

Thanks for your response. But I think u misunderstood me a bit. I am editing mixed martial arts DVD’s. This event i am doing now has 17 fights. So I turned each full tape into sublclips of each fight. So since i have 3 cams, i have 3 subclips for each fight. I used an inpoint to make a multiclip of all 3 subclips. Instead of nesting sequences, i use one sequence. I lay 1 multiclip at a time in the sequence to “edit” or cut to the angles that i want. The problem im having starts after i edit or cut 1 multiclip. The next one will lock up in the viewer and i will get that error message. This is only the second fight i have use FCP for. I just switched over from Premiere Pro. But the last fight went without any of these errors or problems. Hopefully this cleared it up a bit. Thanks again.

Well, making multiclips from subclips is not something I would do.
FCP and subclips are usually kind of iffy. In my opinion, you should have
logged each fight separately, not captured one big tape and then
made subclips. FCP is good at many things but media management
is not one of them. And when you make multiclips from subclips,
you are already asking FCP to follow your clip down extra levels of
media management. This is not necessary if you log each clip
separately then make the multiclip from your original clips.
This may or may not be what caused your errors
but why ask for trouble when a little better logging will
make your sessions much smoother overall?
