    Hello all,

I’ve been trying to figure this out for the past 2.5 hours to no avail. Here’s what happened:

Was working on a project off an external hard drive in FCPX 10.2. Everything was going fine. Closed it down, ejected the drive, went to lunch. Started everything up again after lunch and this shows up:

What the heck happened? No matter what I do, I can’t get it to relink. I didn’t move around any files, just closed everything and reopened an hour later. I tried restoring from a backup, but now all backups render these clips as (missing). I tried exporting an XML and reimporting, but that shows the XML as broken. I tried updating to 10.2.1, but that didn’t do anything. I tried transferring everything to another drive and opening it there, but still the same issue. I was supposed to deliver this project today, but with my A-roll gone, I don’t know what to do other than re-edit the project completely. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for the help!

    Open the multiclip.

    What’s missing?

It doesn’t allow me to open the multicam clip. If I double click it, nothing happens.

Are there multi clips in the Browser?

Yes. And other instances of the same multicam clip in different projects work fine. It’s just in this project that it shows as missing.

    That seems strange.

If you match frame from the Project, nothing happens?

When I try to match frame I get a dialog box popping up to say, “Failed to reveal clip. The original clip could not be found or reconstructed.”

Is the drive you are writing from formatted OSX Extended?

Did restoring the Library from a backup work, the version before you went to lunch?

Yes, all drives I use are formatted OS X Extended. And no, restoring from backups (tried a few different versions) had the same (missing) problem showing up even though it clearly was working at the time of saving (I was actively editing it!).

    Quite a mystery, huh?

    Yes, it’s very weird.

First of all, I’d report this to Apple right away.

Second, if you select the missing multiclip, open the inspector and click “modify settings” does anything happen?

At the very least, you may have to rebuild the edit manually using the tc.

It crashes Final Cut if I try to Modify Settings. And the TC that it shows in the Inspector isn’t right somehow…

In the end I had to re-edit from scratch. Thanks for trying though!
