  • Multibridge works in SD but not HD

Posted by Aaron Cadieux on March 11, 2008 at 3:39 am

    Hello all,

I trying to test my new multibridge pro. I have shot some 720 60p footage with my EX1. I have installed my Multibridge properly. I use a PC with Adobe Production Suite Premium. And yes, my PC is up to snuff.

Capturing SD has been no problem. I set the EX1 to output downconverted Letterbox SD over the SDI output. I can capture it into Premiere Pro in a DeckLink DV 4 x 3 project.

Now, when I switch the EX1 to output HD over the SDI output, and try to capture it into a Premiere Pro DeckLink HD720 Motion JPEG 60p project, I cannot get a signal in capture mode. Any ideas or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

not sure about the input but keep in mind that photo jpeg is a single threaded encoder meaning that no matter how fast your computer is you will not get decent off tape encodes.. in sd its great but hd has too much data and you just get bad encodes..

    Del,

Even in a 720 8-bit 60p instead of Motion-JPEG, I still get no HD signal.

check yourplayback and capture setting’s and make sure all is in order. you will get no signal lets say if your camera is outputting HDSDI @ 60f and your capture is at 59.94f, the card will just not lock to the signal.. its a shot in the dark..

    Del,

I have the ‘Multibridge Pro’, which is an HD model. It is installed in a PCIe slot. I am still new to the HD game, and some of this gets a little confusing.

sorry i had to ask.. i have a few older mb’s that are sd only.. the problem is generally quite simple and usually obvious.. if the deck is outputting “x” video the capture device needs to set to “x”. I have to admit a few times the 60f vs 59.94f has got me because i got comfortable(ok lazy).

the mb should auto detect the SD/HDSDI signal so i’d say look at your nle’s cature settings and maybe dont believe the “easy setups” .

is your vtr ref locked and happy?
is your easy setup correct or just close(close doesnt work)?
is your easy setup looking at the bm mb for hd..?

you are always one dominoe away from making them all fall together..

I am away from my office right now, but I’ll make sure everything is set properly when I get back. Thanks for your help with this. I have been posting on the cow for a while with this problem, and you’re the first one to offer any advice.

Cool!! SD is easy but remember when it was hard for you, HD is really not that hard either its just real particular. Seems like just about every problem i’ve had theres always been a simple solution. but even for me the problem sometimes is hard to see when you are buried in menus and settings etc..
