  • multibridge – hd analog to hd sdi conversion artefacts?

    hello there,

i just tested newly purchased multibridge with f900 sony cinealta camera.
i connected multibridge to camera using analog hd signal, converted it to hd sdi, and outputed it to sony 17 inch monitor equipped with MEU unit which has both analog hd and hd sdi inputs.

what i noticed is strange behaviour – when camera is DIRECTLY connected to sony’s MEU unit via analog hd cables – and multibridge is NOT used – the picture is really good.

but when used in this way:

analog hd signal from cinealta is conected to multibridge unit – analog hd is converted to hd sdi and then – as hd sdi is sent to hd sdi input in MEU monitor unit. (sony’s hdsdi board is there) and when displayed on monitor – looks very different – edges are soften, somehow “doubled”, bit blurred – definitelly the picture is not as sharp as before.

(path: cinealta analog hd out –> mutibridge hd analog in–> multibridge hd sdi out–>sony’s MEU unit hd sdi input –> viewed on 17inch lcd monitor)

is this normal behaviour, or i am making something wrong?
and if this is normal behaviour – then why?

i cannot send you any pictures for comparition, because i do not know how to import/digitize straight analog hd signal to my editing computer.

i prepared everything in multibridge software, i checked all cables, etc. in my opinion everything is properly tested, but the result is not good.

    maybe someone already tested this?
    any suggestions?

    thank you,

    filip
