  • Multibridge Extreme no simultaneous playback on Video Mon & FCP Canvas

I’m new to FCP and recently set up FCP 5 system with Multibridge Extreme on a brand new PMG5 Quad with 4.5GB RAM. For the first couple of days it was running fine. Then one fine unfortunate day, I noticed that the canvas on FCP is not updating while playing the timeline while the video out was showing on my video monitor. But if I disable my video monitoring by turning off the “all frames” to “off” the canvas updates but of course I would need both to play. Help, I’m just to green at the moment to deduce this. I can scrub and both will update but sometime, and sometimes only the canvas is a bit sluggish, otherwise it’ll scrub well together with the video output.
Oh yeah, and when I stop the playing on timeline, then ony does the canvas updates at where the frame stops. It’s also the same case when trying to preview on the source ( I forgot what’s the term use for the monitor on the left of the canvas), no simultaneous playback output on the PowerMac Display and the Video Monitor.

Thanks in advance to anyone can help point me to the right direction.

doesn’t “mirror on desktop” actually give you a lower quality image and not
    true pixel for pixel monitoring?

I have the exact same setup as you Ken.

You do have to check every place in final cut pro where your video size/format/framerate is defined to ensure it all works.

I find this a bit annoying. I wish finalcut had one setting (like the easy setup you can have popup on fcp launch) and when you set it for BMD 1920×1080 59.94 it damn well sets EVERYTHING to that.
