    Hi,

I have a bunch of cars in a multi shader and have gotten the look I want with all the colours and seeds, set the mode to object mode and cloning onto a spline so I can animate the offset to make the cars move. Works great but my cars are coloured predictably, first 4 cars are red, second four blue etc etc…But then once the red cars reach the position of the blue cars they change to blue.

Tried every setting but nothing is fixing it.

I would show the problem but the project is for my agency so I can’t really show it.

    Thanks in advance.

sounds like your Multishader is set to Indexed Mode. It would need to be color brightness (or one of the other color modes) then use a Random effector on the Cloner with parameter (scale/Pos/Rot) off and Color Mode set to On. You probably will want Blending Mode to be Add/Subtract/Divide not Default… you will also get different results with the various Modes in the multishader other than Color Brightness…

    Thanks for the reply!

I’ll have a mess about with the settings. I also forgot to mention that the colour shader is only on the body of the car, but the car as a group is being cloned.

Is there a way to randomly colour only certain parts of the model, If not I feel the multishader is fairly useless in most cases.

    Thanks!

You can put different materials on different components and those materials can use different multishaders or mograph color shaders.

you can use a single texture on a cloner and it will apply to all members of the cloned group that don’t have their own (different) texture tag.
A single texture on a group can also be limited to only parts of the groups objects by using Selection tags
