Hi there, I have been making a few videos that have split screens of different music performers playing together. I’ve been using pan/crop and masking to do this in Vegas 14.

All is well but I had a question: I’ve been asked to do a bunch of videos with a choir that have a lot more screens. Not sure how many it could be yet but I know it will be quite a few.

I’m trying to think of a good method in which to do this that is simple and will look nice.

I thought of creating a frame grid first in Photoshop that has a transparent background, so I could easily divide up the space and create an even grid.
Then import this into Vegas as a top layer. From there I would resize and mask the videos while looking at the grid on top to help me get them all the same.

Is there a more efficient way to do this? Thank you!

    Hi Jono

Here’s one tutorial on how to do this:

There is also this, which I never tried, but what do you got to lose… it’s free !

    Me again

Vaguely remembered reading something about this a long time ago. Here’s the link. There were a few versions of this. The most updated one is at the bottom. Make sure you read the complete post.

Sounds promising. (never tried that one either)

    Cool! Thanks!
Would this also work in Vegas 14? I think it said V8 or V9.

    Cheers

    Hi Jono

If you read the whole post, you will see that he made mods along the way in response to comments about versions. I still have all of my Vegas versions starting from way back with V3. I still revisit some of them on account that some of the plugins that I like to use don’t work on some of the late versions.

If push comes to shove, I’m sure you can get a earlier trial version somewhere that will work with the plugin if you can’t make it work with yours.

    Cheers !
