Does anyone know of a circuit to power the condenser mic from a multi media headset?
I wish to run the mic as a talkback mic and will need to power via batteries this i know…
Or can 48v phantom be tricked down to get the 3v needed for the mic?
    Many thanks

Hello Brian and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

Here’s the problem. Phantom Power is applied to both sides of a balanced mic, and not to the ground. Multimedia mics are generally unbalanced. If you apply Phantom Power to the shield and hot lead, you’ll toast the mic.

You need a mic with a balanced output to use Phantom Power properly. The Countryman E6 with XLR termination will work fine

    Thanks Ty,
I am aware that a multi media headset is unbalanced … I was just wondering if anyone has come up with a (48v phantom to 3v unbalanced adaptor)…
I have in my kit a (48v phantom to 12v T power adaptor) its just a bit tricky to get open to see whats inside….
The countryman E6 looks good but i may need 20 of them, but not that sort of budget.
    Cheers
