Multi-camera edit with 5.1 sound
I’ve viewed a few tutorials on multi-camera editing but none clearly showed how to deal with 5.1 sound tracks. I have 3 camera shots & will choose one for the sound track. However, I’ll be using the audio to synchronize the video. When I insert the first video track, it places the video track & multiple audio tracks (front left/right, rear left/right, & LFE). I then insert two additional video tracks upon which to drag the additional cameras video. When I do that, the audio tracks overlay the first camera’s audio. I can’t figure out how to keep each audio track grouped with the video so I can then synchronize & then choose which audio to keep. Any suggestions dealing with multi-camera editing with 5.1 sound? I’m using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 11 Platinum.

I don’t have Movie Studio, but, in the pro version, I first synch all of the cameras with each in its own video and audio track. Once all the cameras are synchronized, I create a multi-camera video track using only the video tracks as input. The audio track does not enter in to my multi-camera processing.

Unfortunately, there’s no multi-cam video track in Studio. But that’s not the problem I’m having anyways. It’s the complication of 5.1 audio. It’s not just 1 video track & 1 audio track per camera; it’s 1 video track & 4 audio tracks (Front, Center, LFE & Rear) per camera. When you drag in the media for each camera, all those audio tracks don’t lay down on separate tracks, they overlay on top of the existing audio tracks. I’ll play around with it & see how I can keep the tracks separated. Thanks.
