Doing a multi-cam shoot incorporating Sony HXR-NX30U with my JVC GY-HM700. Do I need to select recording bit rates of each camcorder to be as similar as possible? Looks like a setting of 35 Mbps on the JVC and 28 Mbps on the Sony. Does it or will it make a difference? Secondly, should I avoid recording 1 cam interlaced and the other progressive? Unfortunately the final product will be delivered mostly on standard definition DVD.

The answer to this probably depends on your editing software. What are you editing on?

Most nonlinear editing programs now are pretty good at being able to handle various camera settings in the same timeline.

My best guess is that matching bit rate isn’t a big deal, but mixing interlaced and progressive might be noticeable in the final product.
