“MTV transitions” in AVID
Hi, I’m rather new to Avid and I’m just wondering if there’s a plugin or an easy way to make MTV-like transitions.. See clip to understand what I’m saying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV7JzavkLw4

2:40 Curtain effectI have some idea how to do this in After Effects (except the “curtains”) but is there some way (plugin maybe) for Avid to make the process faster when editing? My main concern is the time it takes to export animations from avid, render them from AE and then import to Avid again. Just for a transition!! Please help.. thanks in advance.

The blur and the white flash are both PAINT EFFECTS. You put these on the layer above the cut, cut the filler so that it is 5 frames on either side of the cut, and they apply the paint effect. Man…I think this is something I have to show. Lemme see if I can do a small video tutorial on this.
Not sure about the curtain.

I use sapphire blurs for the blur wipes. Sapphire glow and BCC glow for the glows, and I create custom mask transitions with animatte or in After Effects.
Same applies for shows not on MTV.
