MPEG2 editing issue
I am I have some raw unedited footage and the video format I have been given is MPEG-2 codec. When I imported into FCP for editing… no audio.
The original video contains audio. What format should I import it so I can edit the audio and video and at the same time maintain the quality of the footage with conversion? -

Use compressor to convert it to ProRes if you are on FCP 6 or above.
