MPEG Streamclip timecode issue
Hi all…I’ve searched the archives on this and can’t find a discussion on it. I’m just noticing that QTs I’m creating in MPEG Streamclip behave strangely in FCP when it comes to subclips and markers. I bring an MPEG Streamclip-created QT into a project. The media start TC is 00:00:00:00. Fine. I make a subclip somewhere in the middle of the clip. The starting TC for that subclip shows erroneously as 00:00:00:00. It’s a scary thing on a couple levels: 1) The source TCs in my sequence bear no resemblance to the TCs from the original master clip…which makes we worried about having to reconnect down the line. And 2) since the subclip TCs are inaccurate, I don’t have an easy way of going back to the master clip if I need something outside the bounds of that subclip.
I’m running these MPEGSC-created QTs through Compressor now, which is, of course, giving me QTs that behave properly in FCP. But I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue and if there’s some info that might help me avoid the extra step.
Thanks!
