  • Mpeg conversion results in audio video out of sync based on a specific moment fast forwarding

I just finished converting 40 hrs of PAL footage from VOBs to MPEG4s using MPEG Streamclip. Of the 25 discs, 10 fell out of sync. Unusual issue though, the sync problem happens all at once as the video appears to fast forward for a couple of seconds in what appears to be a random point in time in each movie and then behold, out of sync for the rest of the movie. When I repeat the process, the same thing happens in the same spot in each movie. Any one encountered this one before???? Any suggestions on settings or fixes. I’m outputting at standard iPod settings and keeping the frame rate the same.

    thanks
    Rick

I’ve had success using DVDxDV Pro in cases where MPEG Streamclip has failed.

Of course, this would add an extra step to your process, as I don’t believe DVDxDV Pro transcodes to MPEG-4. You’d have to convert to an intermediate Quicktime format and then go to MPEG-4 form there.
