O.K so i’ve tried a few other forums in the past and I still haven’t been able to find a solution. I’m getting footage from a client. Who uses Adbove Prem and a PC. He has one other editor who has FCP and he apparently doesn’t have this problem.

    The footage is .MPEG –
    It comes up as MPEG2 video 1440 x 810
    27.01 Mbits
    23.98 FPS

It won’t play in FCP for me! I’ve tried installing a Cineform Codec which the director recommended but I still don’t have any luck?

Last time I had to convert all the footage which was just a pain. anyone got anyideas,

    Please help,

    Yours Sincerely

    Ben

Mmm, I could only think of two things: Either ask the Adobe Director to re-export the Film in a different codec. Other option – try to convert the footage with Apps like MPEG Streamclip to a more workable format. MPEG 2 is not a good editing codec anyway.

Thanks so much for the reply Sascha! So even if I could get it working it still wouldn’t be great?
I just wanted to get out of having to convert it but I’m guessing there is no way huh…dang.

It really is better. You do not want to edit in that file format. It’s highly compressed. If you are working in FCP, convert it to ProRes.
